Tottenham Hotspur: What's Next For Gio?

I admit it. I really believed back in August of '08 that one Gio Dos Santos was going to be a central contributor for the Spurs. After action in only six league matches (two starts, four substitutions), Gio was loaned to Ipswich Town for the duration of the 2008-09 season. Granted he battled through injuries this campaign, but all together, the year was a disappointment for the talented Mexican international. So now what?

-- Stay at Tottenham? Unlikely as Harry Redknapp looks poised to distance himself from the majority of the Juande Ramos-era signings.

-- Head to Spain? Potentially, although he would likely land at a mid-table side such as Racing Santander, Deportivo La Coruña, or Mallorca.

-- Back across the pond to Mexico? Certainly a possibility. Larger clubs such as Chivas or America would be the most logical destinations.

-- Portugal? A club like Braga, who is just a step below the big three in Portugal year-in-and-year-out would be a solid choice.

-- The Coca-Cola Championship? Would one of the recently relegated sides take a chance on the winger with elite-level pace? Newcastle United could be an option.

Have your say? What's next for Gio?

Fulham: Roy Hodgson Wants To Keep Hangeland and Schwarzer

Roy Hodgson is hopeful that defender Brede Hangeland and goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer will agree to new deals after the duo were key components of Fulham's success in 2008-09.

Will the pair be stationed at Craven Cottage for the 2009-10 campaign? Hodgson believes so.

"Brede's contract has still got two years to go so there's not panic when it comes to that," Hodgson said. "He has been offered a new deal at the club which I hope he will be happy with and accept."
With regards to Schwarzer, Hodgson, speaking to Sky Sports said, "Mark will be going into the last year of his contract and that is nothing which either he or we want so I'm hoping that will be quickly resolved."
