London Trio Making Play for Top 4

Could this be the season that London stakes claim to three of the top four Premiership spots? Chelsea, tops with 36 points, Tottenham, and Arsenal along with Manchester United comprise the current Premiership top four.

Chelsea at this point seems a given for the top four, while Tottenham and Arsenal face determined fights from the likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City, and Liverpool as the clubs race to the finish line. What is waiting there is a chance at Champions League glory and the revenue streams that accompany said UEFA Champions League berth.

Tottenham Hotspur: Jermain Defoe Scored Five Goals vs. Wigan

Jermain Defoe scored five of Spurs’ nine goals in a complete thrashing of Wigan Athletic in London this weekend.

Dafoe’s five goal effort tied a Premier League record for most goals in a game. He now sits alongside EPL greats Alan Shearer (Newcastle against Sheffield Wednesday in September 1999) and Andy Cole (Manchester United against Ipswich).

"It did cross my mind whether I was going to get another (hat trick). I had another good chance but you can’t complain getting five goals," Jermain Defoe noted to media after the match.
